About Piano Removal Services

A piano is heavy, awkward to move, and worth protecting. Whether it's an old upright collecting dust in a bedroom, a grand piano in your living room, or a broken instrument you've been meaning to remove, moving it yourself risks damage to the piano, your home, and your back. Our crew knows how to handle pianos safely.

We remove upright pianos, grand pianos, baby grands, and concert pianos. We bring the right equipment, the proper technique, and the experience to move your piano from one location to another or off your property entirely. If the piano is staying in Spokane with a music school or collector, we can arrange that. If it's going to recycling, we handle that too.

Piano removal is one of the trickiest heavy-item jobs in junk removal. Pianos are fragile instruments with thousands of moving parts, and they're deceptively heavy. We charge fair rates and guarantee your piano gets out safely, with minimal disturbance to your home.

Piano Types We Handle
  • Upright pianos (any age or condition)

Not sure it qualifies?

Call and describe it. If it fits in the truck and it is legal to haul, it goes. Hazardous materials are the short list we cannot take.

How piano removal works

Four steps from the first call to a swept-clean space, with the price agreed before anything is lifted.

Step 1

Describe your piano

Call (509) 266-0418 and tell us about your piano. Is it an upright or grand? Where is it located in your home? Does it need to go upstairs or down? Are there tight doorways? We ask the right questions to plan the move.

Step 2

We provide a fair quote

Based on your piano's type, size, and location, we give you a flat-rate estimate. The price includes protective moving equipment, labor, and transport. We confirm that price before we start work.

Step 3

Our crew comes prepared

We bring piano moving dollies, furniture pads, straps, and protective blankets. Your piano is wrapped and secured so it's safe during transport. We pad doorways and stairs to protect your home.

Step 4

Safe removal and disposal

If your piano goes to a new home, school, or collector, we handle the delivery. If it's going to recycling, we take it to a facility that processes pianos responsibly. You get confirmation when it's done.

Piano Removal questions

Frequently
asked

The questions Spokane customers ask most, answered straight. Anything not covered here, call and ask.

See all FAQs
Is piano removal more expensive than regular junk removal?
Yes, piano removal costs more because it requires specialized equipment, protective materials, and trained staff. Pianos are among the most challenging items to move safely. We quote each piano individually based on its size, condition, and location.
Can you remove a piano from a second-story bedroom?
Yes, if the piano can fit through doorways and be maneuvered down hallways and staircases. We assess the access when you call. If interior removal isn't possible, we may need to use window removal, which increases the cost.
What if my piano is broken or hasn't been tuned in years?
Condition doesn't matter to us. Broken pianos, out-of-tune pianos, pianos with stuck keys or cracked soundboards, we remove them all. The piano's playability doesn't affect our removal service.
Can you donate my piano to a school or music program?
If your piano is in playable condition, we can connect you with schools or music nonprofits that accept donations. We handle the logistics and get it to them safely. Let us know if donation is your preference.
Do you disassemble pianos before moving them?
We avoid disassembling pianos because reassembly is complex and expensive. If your doorways are extremely narrow or your staircase is blocked, we may need to discuss it, but usually, we move pianos as single units.
How long does piano removal typically take?
Most piano removals take one to three hours depending on access, the piano's size, and how far it's traveling. A simple upright on the first floor might take an hour. A grand piano on the second floor could take three.
What happens to pianos that can't be played anymore?
Pianos are recycled or salvaged for parts where that is possible. The wood, metal, and other materials are processed at recycling facilities that accept them. We don't send playable pianos to waste.
