About Drywall Demolition Services

Renovation projects start with demolition. If you are removing walls, opening up a kitchen, or gutting a room, drywall comes down first. Legend Junk Removal handles the tear-down, material separation, and debris hauling so your renovation crew can focus on building. We work fast and clean so the next phase of your project starts on time.

More about drywall demolition

Drywall demolition is rough work. It creates dust, noise, and piles of broken material. Our crew manages all of it. We remove sheetrock, studs, blocking, and any insulation behind the walls. Metal studs, wooden framing, and drywall scrap all get sorted, then recycled where facilities accept them or disposed of properly.

In Spokane and Liberty Lake, whether you are opening up one wall or demo-ing an entire floor, we coordinate with your general contractor so the site is clear and the debris is gone before the next trade arrives. Same-day or next-day service keeps your renovation on schedule.

Drywall and Interior Materials We Remove

  • Insulation batts and blown-in fill
  • Joint compound and mudded tape
  • Interior wall paneling and boards
  • Blocking and backing boards
  • Damaged plaster and lathe
  • Fiberglass and mineral wool insulation
  • Drywall debris piles and scrap
  • Dust and dust containment materials
  • Fasteners, nails, and hardware

Not sure it qualifies?

Call and describe it. If it fits in the truck and it is legal to haul, it goes. Hazardous materials are the short list we cannot take.

How drywall demolition works

Four steps from the first call to a swept-clean space, with the price agreed before anything is lifted.

Step 1

Consult on the scope

Tell us which walls or areas need demolition. We ask about utilities, HVAC, and electrical so we avoid damaging hidden systems.

Step 2

Protect and isolate

We contain dust with plastic sheeting if needed. Adjacent areas stay clean. We protect floors and protect fixtures that remain.

Step 3

Demo and sort materials

We tear out drywall, frame members, and insulation. Materials are separated into recyclable scrap, metal, and disposal waste.

Step 4

Haul debris away

All debris is loaded into our truck and hauled to local recycling facilities where they accept it, or to disposal. Your space is swept and ready for the next phase.

“Zach and Camden were awesome! When a local home repair/appliance store refused to deliver my 80 gallon hot water tank directly to our basement siting difficulty and possible injury, I reached out to Legend. This mid 1950's home has a typical narrow staircase with a 90 degree turn at the bottom.”

Drywall Demolition questions

Frequently
asked

The questions Spokane customers ask most, answered straight. Anything not covered here, call and ask.

Do you remove plaster as well as drywall?
Yes. Older Spokane homes often have plaster over lath instead of drywall. We remove both carefully and haul the debris away.
What about insulation and vapor barriers?
All insulation comes out with the wall demolition. Fiberglass, mineral wool, and blown-in materials are all hauled and properly disposed of.
Can you work around electrical outlets and switches?
Yes, but we recommend your electrician turn off power to those areas first. We work carefully around fixtures but do not move or modify electrical systems.
Do you remove ceiling drywall too?
Yes. Drywall ceiling removal is more labor-intensive and messier than walls, but we handle it. Debris falls, dust rises, and we manage the cleanup.
Can you remove interior walls that might be load-bearing?
Never without architectural approval. If you are unsure whether a wall is load-bearing, an engineer or contractor must confirm before demo begins. We do not remove structural walls.
How much debris does drywall create?
A typical room produces several hundred pounds. A whole-floor gut job fills a large debris pile. We quote based on square footage and haul everything away.
